Campaign Overview: Sponsorship event of Bridget Jones film premiere

RSVP is Australia’s largest online dating agency, with almost one million members. A publicity opportunity was identified, which brought together RSVP’s online dating service and the ‘singletons’ theme of the hugely successful film ‘Bridget Jones’ Diary’.

Distributors of the film, United International Pictures were delighted to join forces in the promotion of the film. A huge media and celebrity premiere was staged by RSVP in collaboration with Hoyt’s Cinema Group, Planet Hollywood, UIP and drinks sponsor Image Wines.

Media invitations were created in the guise of Bridget’s diary with premiere’s details pencilled in as an appointment. Attendance from both media and celebrities was phenomenal and many cast members from Neighbours and Home and Away enjoyed the event.

A drinks reception was organised to welcome guests on arrival, followed by VIP film screenings and an after show party which included games designed by a dating psychologist.

Media information was distributed to press wrapped in the infamous Bridget Jones big pants. Coverage was widespread and the premiere was featured in national newspapers as well as society and women’s publications.
